19/12/2025

The Minister for Policing and Communications, Hon. Ioane Naivalurua, visited Vodafone Fiji as part of his ongoing engagement with telecommunications operators supporting Fiji’s digital transformation agenda.

The Minister met with Vodafone Fiji’s Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Elenoa Biukoto, and the senior leadership team, where discussions focused on the evolving role of the telecommunications sector in supporting Fiji’s national digital transformation agenda.

In his remarks, Hon. Naivalurua challenged the company to move beyond connectivity, emphasising that access alone is no longer sufficient. He underscored the need to ensure that once people are connected, digital services actively improve livelihoods, strengthen public services, expand economic opportunity, and empower communities.

“Connectivity must translate into real outcomes for our people — better access to education, healthcare, markets, government services, and opportunities to participate meaningfully in the digital economy,” the Minister said.

During the meeting, Ms. Biukoto shared Vodafone Fiji’s vision and journey, outlining the company’s role in connecting Fiji and the wider Pacific, and its continued investment in reliable, secure, and resilient digital networks that support individuals, businesses, and government services. The CEO also underscored Vodafone Fiji’s DNA as a 100 per cent locally owned company, noting that this is reflected in its people-centred approach to human resource development, including graduate programmes and support for postgraduate education, aimed at building local talent and leadership for the future.

Following the leadership engagement, the Minister toured Vodafone Fiji’s Network Operations Centre and Data Centre, where he was briefed on network monitoring, service reliability, and cybersecurity operations. He acknowledged the importance of robust systems in maintaining service continuity and protecting critical digital infrastructure.

The visit concluded with Hon. Naivalurua addressing Vodafone Fiji staff, where he commended their professionalism and dedication. He encouraged the team to continue innovating, while keeping people, inclusion, and national development outcomes at the centre of their products.
