The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka, met with the British High Commissioner to Fiji, H.E. Kanbar Hossein-Bor, reaffirming strong Fiji–UK relations ahead of the Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting to be hosted by Fiji in Nadi from 9–12 February, 2026.
High Commissioner Hossein-Bor delivered a congratulatory letter from the UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific, Hon. Seema Malhotra, acknowledging Minister Ditoka’s new appointment and reaffirming the UK’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Fiji.
Minister Ditoka acknowledged the UK’s continued support and longstanding partnership with Fiji, highlighting collaboration in climate change, ocean conservation, trade, maritime security and peacekeeping. He also reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to strengthening cooperation on shared challenges, sustainable development and economic prosperity.
Discussions also recognised the contributions of Fijians serving in the British Army and the wider Fijian diaspora in the UK, as well as opportunities to enhance trade, investment and connectivity through Fiji’s High Commission in the United Kingdom.
Both sides agreed that Fiji’s hosting of the Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting presents an opportunity to further elevate Fiji–UK and wider Commonwealth cooperation.
