12/06/2013

Cabinet has approved the gazettal of Double Taxation Agreements (DTA’s) between the Fijian Government and the Governments of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar.

The DTAs will clarify rules regarding the responsibilities of taxpayers to the revenue authorities in each contracting country.

The DTAs will also seek to limit international tax avoidance, by rules for the allocation of income and deductions between related enterprises, for the exchange of information and, in some cases, for assistance in collection.

The DTAs shall come into effect after gazettal.
