HIGH PERFORMANCE DEMAND FOR TEACHERS
Teachers of underperforming schools in the Nadroga vicinity were challenged this week to lift their performance.
Minister for Education Filipe Bole stressed that teachers in such schools need to identify means of improving external examination results.
“Children learn by example and whatever teachers do, students will follow”, Mr Bole said.
“If teachers are not committed to their work, the students will reflect this”.
The Minister’s visit to the schools yesterday was to ensure that underperforming schools put in the desired commitment to produce the expected outcome.
“Heads of Department should ensure that department teachers perform to the expected level. Department teachers who fail to perform should be recommended for transfer by their department head. If you are transferred for underperformance very few schools will demand your service”, Minister Mr.Bole said.
“We acknowledge the status quo but the children are our responsibility. You are responsible for taking students through the various subjects offered”, Mr.Bole added.
